Situated high on Howell Mountain, above the fog line at 1,600' of elevation, Winemaker Chris Carpenter believes the dense volcanic soils and temperate climate are ideal for growing high-quality Merlot. With a structure similar to Cabernet, the La Jota 2016 Merlot showcases dark ripe berries, black cherry, and espresso bean. A broad textural impact charms the mid-palate and classic Howell Mountain minerality drives the long, opulent finish.
