At 1,800 feet above sea level, the Upper Barn vineyard is an impressive site. Named for its
historical use as the place where horses were changed when crossing over the Mayacamas
Mountains, the Upper Barn is best known for the block of Chardonnay that has produced
excellent fruit both for Stonestreet as well as other distinguished winemakers. This See’s / Old Wente clone of Chardonnay planted on shallow,
gravelly soils, provides defining balance, structure and spice. The adjacent seven acre
Sauvignon Blanc vineyard consistently produces low yields of crisp, melon and grapefruit
flavored mineral-laden fruit.
