This rare wine has not been produced since 2001. We only make this wine when the vintage is exceptional and we only produced 221 cases of this 2004 Christopher's.
Tasting Notes:
"Dark purple/red in color. Deep, concentrated. Hints of spice and chocolate on the nose followed by rich varietal characteristics of dark berry and cassis on the palate. Long, commanding finish." - Graham Weerts, Winemaker
Acclaim:
92 Points - "Saturated ruby. Intensely aromatic nose offers powerful blackberry and boysenberry aromas and sexy spice notes. Big but harmonious tannins and gentle acidity support explosively sweet, concentrated dark berry and floral pastille flavors which utterly fill the mouth. This very rich, velvety wine boasts an impressive display of ripe berry flavors on the long, sappy finish." Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar, December 2006
Source:
Located on Alexander Mountain Estate, 2,400 feet above sea level. Highest Stonestreet vineyard.
Thin, rocky soil coupled with warm summer days and cool nights result in optimally ripened
Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vintage:
"Warm spring pushed early March bud break. No frost damage. Near-perfect bloom and set in April. No rain. Moderate temperatures prevailed. Harvest began mid-August. Low yields. The toughest challenge of the ’04 harvest was the compressed timing. Everything came ripe at the same time. . . Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot. The vineyard team had to handpick all vineyard blocks on the mountain within a 30-day window. Mind-blowing, really." – Graham Weerts
